THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Once Upon a time, there live a couple separated
by thousands of miles. One glorious fateful day in April, the two decided
to leave the comforts of their own homes and join in one. So that's
where the story begins.
The two travel over not so majestic plains
and tumbleweed filled streets to find their first home together in the
oh so illustrious Dayton, OH (birthplace of flight)! Here they find
happiness in the beautiful courtyard of Gross Drive (terribly romantic).
Townhouses filling the roads with walls made of paper. The love is shared
from neighbor to neighbor (if you know what I mean). The school tiled floors
remind us of our growing up years. Thank goodness for family, they really
came through, our house is filled with beautiful chattels.
In all truth and kidding aside, we really
are lucky for such a lovely home. The house was redone before we got here.
All the appliances are new, and if anything (I do mean anything) breaks
they usually will have someone here to fix it within the day.
We have two floors, downstairs is the
living area with kitchen, utility/laundry room, dining area, bathroom and
living room. Upstairs is our office/guest room, master bedroom, and bathroom.
There's a playground right out front and large field out back, a shed,
and a garage.
WORKING...
Ryan is working in the base
hospital as a surgical tech. and has found his favorite surgeries in
orthopedics. But does, however help with all kinds. With this job all the
techs have to do a rotation in the Central Sterilization (CS) for three
months (not one of his favorite jobs). Luckily every three weeks
he gets a break from the monotony and participate in the Base Honor Guard.
Honor Guard are the people who do weddings, ceremonies, funerals, or when
“special” people come to the base. While Ryan is working Sara watches two
kids every day. Samuel 22mo. and Daniel 5 years. The two keep me very active
and busy. Once in a while I’11 pull my hair out but for the most part they
are hilarious. In the evenings 2 days a week, I teach 2 gymnastics classes
with the ages ranging 5-10. That is probably my favorite part, to
be able to see kids really trying and succeeding in something they like
to do. It usually puts a smile on my face, especially when one of
the kids has a hard time with a particular skill, then finally accomplishes
it. Usually on my off times I do hair to keep up my skill, butt the
only places to work here are “cookie cutter, get ‘em out of here as fast
as you can” places, so I'm doing all cosmetology stuff at home.
WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?
The holidays get lonely without a lot of family
around, but that's life. Luckily we were able to see the De La Mare set
of parents the week before Thanksgiving and Wayne Petterson (Ryan's dad)
Thanksgiving week. Wayne took us on a spectacular trip to Chicago to see
the beautiful architecture, art museum, and fun city life. We had such
a blast we're just waiting for another opportunity (meaning funds) to go
back or to other cities.
For Christmas, we’re trying to develop
our own traditions. So we decided we were going to cut down our own Christmas
tree. It really was fun, my first real tree in years. I am however sad
to miss Jim and Joann's Christmas eve party. We are trying to figure out
how to make the Eve of Christmas feel special.
New Years' we’re planning on going dancing
in Cincinnati then sharing a hotel room with a group of friends.
In October of 1999 we are finally going
to take a honeymoon and go to Disney World with some friends of ours.
Anyway, needless to say, we really are
having fun here in Ohio and with all the things were doing. But we really
would like to be closer to Utah and Washington to see more family and friends,
and as Ryan so eloquently states “TO SKI!!!”
We really appreciate all that everyone has done for us, whether we say it or not.
Her are some pictures of Tyce, our first child. Isn't he the best thing you've ever seen?
Write to Ryan and
Sara!!
Back to the family.
